Beds with Benefits was a startup which allowed you to book accommodation directly through the owners, as opposed to needing a third party like booking.com.
The site posed a win-win scenario for users and accommodation owners: users could book directly with owners at a cheaper price, and owners could secure higher returns without a third party marketplace taking a cut.
Harry was contracted by the founders to build the initial product. Their main concerns were:
- Scalability: they requested a cloud solution to scale with incoming traffic
- A frontend where users could search for, view accommodation around them, and filter by common criteria.
- A backend where accommodation owners could:
- Create and manage their accounts
- Manage their multiple property listings
- Promote properties for certain date ranges
- View analytics which monitored how much traffic to their sites/systems was as a result of Beds with Benefits.
- Payment integration with Stripe.
Ultimately, Beds with Benefits shut down in 2023.
